5 Office-Appropriate Halloween Costume Ideas
“In Girl World, Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it.” (Mean Girls said it, don’t hate the messenger.) While this is obvi a sacred tradition, in the real world, aka your office Halloween party, it’s not as acceptable to wear lingerie in some animal form. So if you want to get in the Halloween spirit without getting sent to HR, here are a few ideas.
Onesies
Shark Onesie, $25.90* and up on Amazon
Unicorn Onesie, $39.99* on Amazon
Cookie Monster Onesie, $59.99* on Amazon
Sailor Moon Luna Onesie, $59* on Amazon
I love wearing onesies on Halloween because 1) they are the ultimate lazy girl costume; you buy literally just one thing and you’re done; 2) you can be anything from a cat to a unicorn to a lobster; 3) they’re totally appropriate for work. You’re literally completely covered from head to toe. Plus, you’ll be cozy af all day.
(Onesies are pretty much Team Earn Spend Live’s Halloween costume of choice.)
Supergirl
Supergirl T-Shirt, $26.99* and up on Amazon
Lee Midrise Ankle Pant, $24.34* and up on Amazon
Levi’s Classic One Pocket Shirt, $24.99* and up on Amazon
This is yet another lazy girl Halloween costume, but it’s also perfect for the office; all you need is a Supergirl tee underneath the button-up-and-blazer combo you already probably rock at work — and you’re set!
Feminist Icons
Rosie the Riveter, $39.99* and up on Amazon
Costume Graduation Robe, $17.56* on Amazon
Courtroom Gavel, $5.70* on Amazon
The Notorious RBG and Rosie the Riveter are popular Halloween costumes because they’re badass, obvi — but they’re also totally appropriate to rock at your office Halloween party. (Yes, Kim K can be considered a feminist icon as well I guess, but gluing a champagne glass onto your latex-dress-covered bum is better suited for a party outside of the office.)
Also sidenote, when I was searching for judge’s robes on Amazon, they were all for men. I repeat: All. For. Men. So us women will have to settle for graduation robes. Fix that ish, Amazon.
TV Characters With Impeccable Office Fashion
From Mindy Kaling’s loud dresses and sweaters to Olivia Pope’s classy coats and gloves, you probably already own some of these pieces. Yes, some people might ask if you’re even dressed up for Halloween, but anyone who doesn’t recognize Mindy or Olivia is not someone whose opinion I care much about.
Disney Princesses IRL

Ditch the shell bra and glass slippers — what would your favorite Disney princess wear to the office? Keep the color schemes (Ariel loves purple and blue, Belle loves yellow obvi) and make it your own!
