Gladiator sandals. Neon sunglasses. Cut-off shorts. Crop tops. A bold red lip. What’s your go-to summer style?

Summer styles aren’t like other seasonal fashion trends. With summer fashion trends centered around less clothing and more skin, it can be hard to determine just what your personal summer style is. Are you the girl in bright summer looks composed of short shorts and tank tops? Are you more suited to the flowy boho summer outfits? Unless you’re willing to shell out all your hard earned cash to order all the summer trends from your favorite online boutique or have the time to spend testing them out in the mall dressing room, it can seem impossible to really determine your look. Luckily, there’s an easier way.

A few questions based on your personality, fashion sense, and taste in patterns and colors can help you cut through all of the summer fashions bombarding you on Pinterest. Think about the piece you feel your best in, not just the pieces you admire on others. Think about what you want your clothing to tell the world. The most important thing when figuring out which summer clothing trends work for you is making sure you’re comfortable in what you put on and feel like your clothes accurately tell the world who you are. Don’t pull on that crop top if you’re not comfortable in it. Don’t walk down the street in a bright floral kimono if it doesn’t make you feel beautiful. And don’t wear a popular summer style simply because it’s been all over your Pinterest feed.

Summer style is meant to be fun, but it’s also meant to be true to you and feel like it’s cohesive with the vibe you give off in all of the other seasons. Whether that’s a neon dress, frayed cutoffs, funky overalls, or a sweet summer dress, the important thing is your clothing makes you feel good and comfortable.
