Good news for all inkWELL lovers and A5 fans: inkWELL’s 2017 liveWELL Classic A5 inserts are everything you’ve ever wanted. They combine the A5 size and flexibility and still have all of the best and most important liveWELL planner features. In fact, when you’ve got it in your hands it feels like there’s absolutely no difference at all between the A5 inserts and the Classic liveWELL planner.
inkWELL Press offers A5 inserts in both the classic and flex layouts. I chose to check out the classic in order to compare it to the brand spankin’ new 2017 Classic liveWELL Planner I recently reviewed. I must say that I am equally as impressed with the A5 inserts, and not just because I’m an inkWELL Press groupie.
The Consistencies
The 2017 liveWELL Classic A5 inserts look just like the 2017 Classic liveWELL planner. The color scheme and design elements that inkWELL is known for have made their way throughout the pages, and it has the same thoughtful, fun feel to it. It’s clear from the minute you open the package that these pages are part of the inkWELL family. They also found a way to include all of the amazing 2017 upgrades in the inserts.
The paper is of the same quality, the dividers are made with the gold foil introduced in the liveWELL covers, and the small-but-mighty extra additions are there too. It’s a smaller version of the liveWELL in every possible way.
Things to Know
An important thing to know before you order the A5 inserts is that inkWELL Press doesn’t currently sell their own A5 covers. The inserts are inkWELL through and through, but you’re going to have to find your own A5 cover that suits you. Luckily, there are so many A5 covers on the market that you won’t have trouble finding one you like.
And of course, A5 means the paper is smaller than other planners. That means less room to write and a few layout differences that may or may not be a big deal to you.
The Differences
Because A5 is smaller, there’s no note or focus section in the weekly layouts. There isn’t enough room. If you like to have a column for to-do lists and the like, then you’re not going to have that from the A5. There’s also less room for the Saturday and Sunday columns, so those now split a column. Saturday is at the top half of the column and Sunday is at the bottom half. Saturday and Sunday don’t get the three special blank boxes.
Monday through Friday, on the other hand, do get the three boxes and the full column space. Because the weekdays are typically the most busy, this layout change won’t impact you greatly. Not unless your weekends are the most hectic part of the week.
There’s been a little shift in the monthly planning pages as well. You still get the monthly calendar, daily habit tracker, and mission board. However, in the A5 inserts the daily habit tracker, monthly planning box, and focus box are placed at the end of the month rather than at the beginning. If it’s something you really don’t like, all you have to do is move it to the beginning of the month by the monthly mission board. Problem solved.
The Dividers
I’m going to have a nerdy moment to gush about the A5 dividers from inkWELL Press. The dividers are amazing. The gold is darker, so it’s somewhere between gold and brass. This gives the A5 a really mature feel in my opinion. The dividers are lightweight, but stiff so they’re easy to flip through. Each divider also has one motivational phrase on the front of it in white and on the back of each month there are small dated monthly calendars for reference. This is a nice little feature because it’s both visually appealing and functional. There are also dividers for the extra sections and for notes.
The Ideal Users
If you’re unsure if the A5 inserts from inkWELL Press are right for you, consider the following:
- Do you need a vertical weekly planner?
- Do you work better with a small planner?
- Do you like to have goal setting included?
- Do you need some extra notes and record taking spaces?
If you answered yes to any of those, then the A5 inserts are worth checking out. Anyone who needs something to become a little more organized with the overwhelming space of larger planners will definitely benefit from using inkWELL’s A5 planner. And if you absolutely love the A5 size and freedom but want some creative goal setting pages, then inkWELL’s inserts are absolutely for you.
inkWELL is the number one planner for useful and fun goal setting. That fact alone makes it a planner worthy of absolutely everyone. The 2017 liveWELL Classic A5 inserts allow you to be a little more in control of your planner because you choose the cover and can order other inserts from other companies and combine them. Freedom-seeking, goal-setting people will love these A5 inserts.
