Office Inspiration: The Best of #WorkspaceWednesday

Your workspace is the most powerful influence on the quality and quantity of your work. Think about how uninspiring it is to work at those old-school desks under fluorescent lighting — and then think about how much you love to work in a warm coffee shop full of eclectic artwork. You need a space you can rely on to provide you with stimulation and motivation to complete your work. Whether you work from home, from the office, or both, you need to create that kind of space for yourself.

The following 12 workspaces were all found under #WorkspaceWednesday on Instagram, and can provide you with a few genius ideas for your own artistically-satisfying work area. There’s no reason you can’t also have a space worthy of the hashtag with these tips.

Pops of Color

This office is vibrant and spunky. The row of pillows add a soft comfort to the space and the collage of small prints and papers on the wall adds a personal touch. This is an easy look to recreate in your own home office or cubicle. Search for pillows in bright, asymmetrical prints and tape up pictures and images you love in a wild, haphazard manner.

Set the Office Mood

For a more moody space, stick with a neutral color scheme and search for edgier decor. You want to find a balance between attitude and beauty. If you’re doing this in your home office, aim for a delicate desk that demands attention and surround it with more eclectic and minimalistic design pieces. Make sure to soften the edge with a soft pillow and lighting.

Make a Statement (Wall)

If you’re not into tons of office decor but still want a colorful space, then consider an accent wall in your color of choice. This adds more than enough color, and when paired with bold, simple decor, it becomes a mature, refined space for you to work in.

Vintage Feels

This space packs a ton of personality in a small, uncluttered space. Antique pieces are the crux of this vibe, so you’ll need to do some flea market hunting. Choose light wall decor to cover a large space, a smaller antique desk in a funky shape, and a quirky desk chair. Make sure you also stick to a color scheme of neutrals and one to two darker tones. Don’t forget a rich rug to tie it all together.

Busy, Yet Tranquil

This space is all about light colors and fun decor in a busy-yet-contained layout. To create a similar vibe, frame quotes to hang on the wall in a collage, grab little knickknacks you love to sit on the desk, and find cute ways to display items you use everyday (like the headphones that are hanging with the collage).

Get Twiggy With It

Sometimes all you need is one major statement piece to give a workspace all of the personality it needs. This photo on Twiggy demands attention, but the colors of it are soft enough that it doesn’t become overwhelming. You can create this by finding a similar image (soft colors with a bold image) and just a few smaller items to complement it (plants, one or two pieces to sit on the desk). Less is often more.

Eclectic to the Max

You might not be able to hang a 3D zebra head at the office, but you can definitely find similar prints to pin to your cube. Look for small pieces in this color scheme (small plants and some utilitarian lamps) for the corner of your desk.

Go Big With Inspiration

The best thing of this workspace is the huge inspiration wall. You can do something similar at home or even in your cube at the office. Think of the general vibe you want to create and search for lightweight pieces you can hang up to create that. Don’t go overboard. You still need some space between items to prevent it from becoming overwhelming for you and others.

White Balance

For a laidback and playful vibe like this home office, you need a good chair and a statement rug. To keep the space from being overwhelmed with color, look for muted colors and keep them to two or three areas of the space. Don’t choose colored furniture. Instead, a rug, a few pillows, and small decorations are the best way to create this look.

The Cat's Meow

The great thing about home offices is that you can make it completely individual to you. This space is unique and has tons of personality without being loud. If you want something similar, choose darker furniture, rich colors, decadent fabrics, and a few memorable pieces that mean something to you or reflect your interests. (Of course, a cuddly black cat doesn’t hurt either.)

A Space for Everyone

Open office spaces can have a chill vibe too. Everything from the string lights and open space to the accent wall and dark desks give this office a relaxing, creative personality. Look for soft red accents, dark furniture, and string lighting to mimic this look in your own open office.

Decor Fusion

This junction of rustic and modern creates a funky space for you to work in. If you can’t find a similar desk, look for other ways to add rustic comfort with items like wood chests, untreated wooden pictures frames, and crocheted pieces (like the snugly white blanket in the corner). Shelving is the key to keeping the decor of this space from becoming clutter, so make sure to follow suit by hanging up shelves if possible or at least hanging decor from the wall.
