Type A individuals are both mesmerizing and frightening—at least that’s what I’ve been told about myself. Because I’m Type A to my core, the control, organization, and efficiency everyone else is amazed by is just a normal day for me.

Something else I’ve been told: Buying gifts for Type A’s is nearly impossible. Type A’s are so particular about what they like and why they like it, and that does make it hard to find something for them and feel 100% good about the purchase. What if they hate it? What if they think you don’t understand them at all?

To help you ease the anxiety and give a slight direction in your shopping journey, here are some gifts the Type A person in your life will absolutely adore.

Workout Gear

If your Type A loved one likes to exercise (and most Type A’s do), then you know how much they treasure exercise clothes that look put together. Type A’s will never be caught in public looking sloppy or less than put together, and that applies to the gym too. So purchase multiple workout items that all work together (literally anything from Carbon38 will do) or a subscription to Fabletics. Fabletics is a monthly fitness clothing company that allows you to select items that all work together and match so you look good in the gym. Your Type A sweat-aholic will be over the moon about it.

A Label Maker

Nothing brings Type A’s more joy than organization and clear labels. If you want to really see their eyes light up, then wrap up one of these. A label maker will allow your Type A friend to put labels on the drawers, jars, and boxes in the kitchen, in the laundry, in the garage, and probably all over your stuff too. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with a label maker.

Matching Notebook Set

Rifle Paper Company Tapestry Notebook Set, $15* on Amazon

Type A’s love notebooks, pens, and sticky notes. Even though they probably already have like a zillion notebooks, purchase a really nice set for them. You see, Type A’s also really love when their things all match. Look for a set that has items that match, like a notebook and multiple sizes of sticky notes. Bonus points if you can find one with creamy, uncoated paper.

Gift Cards

Now this might not seem like much of a gift idea, but it takes away all of the stress. Type A’s know exactly what they like, and they probably already have a list of things they’d like to purchase in the future. So instead of trying to figure out what they want, just get them a gift card to a store you know they love (Target is always a safe bet). They will be so grateful to you for the opportunity to buy what they want and for saving them the trouble of pretending to like what you purchased.

A Planner

inkWELL Press liveWELL Planner, $54+
Erin Condren LifePlanner, $60+

Again, Type A’s are all about organization. The best way to support their organizational endeavors is to buy them a planner. But not just any planner. Type A’s want a serious planner with room for notes, their schedule, goal setting, budgeting, and much more.

A Massage

Here’s the thing. Type A people spend so much time organizing, thinking, planning, and handling things that they’re kind of stressed out all of the time. They wake up thinking about the things that need to be done and then fall asleep still thinking about them. If this lifestyle goes on for too long without some relaxation, they’re going to snap. Make the world a better place for them and everyone else around them by booking them a massage so they can release all of that tension.

A Roomba

Roomba, $299.99* on Amazon

There is no such thing as a Type A person who doesn’t also want a spotless house. It’s just not possible. Because of this Type A’s spend a lot of time cleaning, which takes up precious time for them to do those more important things. If you purchase a Roomba for your beloved Type A, there’s a good chance it will be their favorite present ever. Go ahead. Splurge on the fancy vacuum. It will repay you in moments of peace (because your Type A won’t be complaining about the dirt you tracked into the living room) a hundred times over.
