The term “girl boss” served its purpose, but we would prefer to now be called by what we are: bosses. We declare the term dead, and we will be striking it out everywhere it’s used on our site. #EndGirlBoss
We all need a little inspiration throughout the day—what better way to find some than by checking in with some seriously inspirational women on Instagram? These women are crushing the career game, and many of them are juggling more than one project or company. It’ll be hard to feel incapable and humdrum once you see all that these women accomplish on the daily.
1. Sophia Amoruso, @sophiaamoruso
This list wouldn’t be complete without the creator of the term “Girl Boss,” Sophia Amoruso. She created Nasty Gal in 2006, and it has totally changed the fashion game. Read more about her amazing girl-boss-ness in her book, #GIRLBOSS, and wait impatiently with us for the release of her second.
2. Ivanka Trump, @ivankatrump
Don’t let her father’s antics fool you; Ivanka is her own woman, and she is a powerful woman at that. Not only does she have an amazing fashion line (one of our editors recently bought a pair of metallic gold leopard print heels from her line and they are the shoes of her DREAMS), she also features business women on her website in a series called #WomenWhoWork.
3. Serena Williams, @serenawilliams
Aside from the fact she’s a kickass athlete (she can dominate on the tennis court and then bust out some splits on the bars.), Serena is also beautiful, funny, committed to her career, and impervious to what the haters think. That’s the kind of girl boss we want to follow.
4. Chrissy Teigen, @chrissyteigen
Being a girl boss doesn’t have to mean being boring; Chrissy is a strong business woman. The model-turned-TV-personality is coming out with a cookbook, and she’s having tons of fun making us drool over her #foodporn. Plus, sometimes she posts pictures of her husband John Legend’s butt.
5. Ashley Tisdale, @ashleytisdale
We’re slightly obsessed with the former High School Musical Star. Before the age of 30, she started her own production company, Blondie Productions, and produces one of the hottest shows on ABC Family right now, Young & Hungry. She’s also launching her own makeup line this spring, called Illuminate (because all the aforementioned things weren’t enough).
6. Misty Copeland, @mistyonpointe
The Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theater is the girl boss to follow for several reasons. Most importantly though, she’s proving over and over again that you can succeed at your passion no matter your race, size, or physical appearance. Misty is a testament to how powerful you can be by simply believing in yourself and working hard to achieve your dreams.
7. Lauryn Evarts, @theskinnyconfidential
If you need some inspo for rocking your career and health while also doing whatever the hell you want, then Lauren Evarts is your girl. Her website, The Skinny Confidential, is candid and spunky—just like Lauren. On top of running her vast website, she’s also ½ of the Blog-Doo team (a web design company), is a published author, has an app for her site, and recently released a monthly workout and diet guide called TSC Bombshell Body Guide. She’s the queen of multitasking, clearly.
8. Audrey Leighton Rogers, @frassyaudrey
The face of BeFrassy might not be as famous as some of these other ladies, but she’s straight-up killing it when it comes to fashion, photography, and honesty. It’s refreshing to see a woman post beautiful photos, but also be honest about the fact she feels terrible, is having an emotional day, or simply wishes she were somewhere else. This girl boss isn’t trying to fool you with a highlight reel. Well, except for the shots of her adorable pup.
