Disclosure: The following product(s) may have been sent to Earn Spend Live in exchange for a review. All opinions are the author’s own.

NoMakeNoLife (NMNL) is a Tokyo-based beauty subscription box that includes five to seven full-sized beauty products for $29.99 monthly. The products included range from six different categories  — skin, body, makeup, hair, bath, and tools — and they’re chosen for you by an in-house beauty consultant. NoMakeNoLife currently ships to more than 120+ countries.

If you’ve never heard of NoMakeNoLife, it’s a popular phrase “heard in Japan by people who believe that makeup is essential to their lives. We want to embrace this philosophy end deliver you high-quality, kawaii Japanese cosmetics that you’ll want to continue using daily.” And deliver they do.

I’ve been obsessed with Sailor Moon and Hello Kitty my entire life, and the number one place on my bucket list is Tokyo, so I was beyond excited to get my first NMNL box. I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting, but when I saw the Sailor Moon and Hello Kitty-related beauty products in my box I FREAKED. OUT. I’m sold. Here is my NMNL unboxing review.

The Products

This subscription box is the definition of kawaii. All of the products’ packaging is super bright and colorful, so the unboxing process was so much fun (there may have been squealing involved, just ask my co-workers).

First up, there’s the Sailor Moon eyelashes and Dolly Wink Eyelash Glue. Just the fact that it’s an official Sailor Moon Crystal product has made me fall in love with NoMakeNoLife. They get me. I received the green Sailor Jupiter lashes — and yes, I mean they’re actually green (although just on the outside tips, so it’s subtle-ish). I don’t personally use fake lashes (especially green ones), but when I dress up as a sailor guardian for Halloween someday I’ll have the right supplies.

The other makeup product is the Zawachin X Noyl Eyeshadow Palette, which is BRIGHT. It actually reminds me of the Colourpop Hello Kitty collection, which is a good thing. This is the eyeshadow palette my 13-year-old self literally dreamed of.

Next up is the skincare: I’m in LOVE with the Hello Kitty Sakura Facial Masks. They actually have Hello Kitty’s whiskers on them, so make sure you have your phone nearby so you can send a Snapchat! It’s a pack of eight, and they contain sakura extract, tea extract, and hyaluronic acid — and bonus: they come in a resealable bag, so they stay fresh. NoMakeNoLife also included Sakura Facial Bar Soap, which smells amazing (and it’s pink, bonus points). Honestly, anything made with Sakura extract is going to be an amazing product. It has a sweet smell and it’s super moisturizing.

Last but not least, the Puchi Animal Hand Cream comes in a little carrier you can attach onto your keys. The packaging is so cute — toting around the little smiling bear makes me unexplainably happy. I received the honey scent, and although it’s a bit of a strong smell, it’s extremely moisturizing without being greasy or too rich.

The Value: $56.28

A monthly subscription to NoMakeNoLife is just $29.99, so the value of this one box is almost double the price of what you’re paying. The only downside is that some of these products aren’t available in the U.S. So if you fall in love with a product, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to purchase more. That being said, NMNL has an online store where you can buy some of your favorite products.

The Verdict: Is NoMakeNoLife Worth It?

The way I see it, with NoMakeNoLife, you’re getting 100% unique products that no one else you know has. Plus, have I mentioned the Sailor Moon and Hello Kitty products???? It’s worth it just for those alone!

NoMakeNoLife also has several subscription options. There’s the recurring monthly $29.99 plan; a recurring three-month plan for $87.00 ($29.00 per month); a recurring six-month plan for $170.00 ($28.33 per month); and a recurring 12-month plan for $330.00 ($27.50 per month). NMNL is also working on a gift subscription box, so if you know anyone as obsessed with Sailor Moon and Hello Kitty as me (hint to my loved ones), you’re in luck!
